Erosion Wear on Runner of Francis Turbine in Jhimruk Hydroelectric Center Journal of fluid engineering

1. The severe erosion wear that occurs near the blade outlet of the runner at the actual site is investigated by using numerical simulation.

2. The theoretically designed opening angle of theguide vanes is not the optimal opening angle, because of the wake flow after guide vanes.

3. Operating on the un-designed condition, the inter-blade vortex in the blade channel is the main factor that induces severe erosion wear at the blade outlet.
